Moira MacTaggert is a famed geneticist who has done much to further the field of genetic mutation. She is an old friend of Xavier's, an ally of the X-Men and an associate member of Excalibur.

Moira MacTaggert (nee Kinross) was born in Scotland to a wealthy, landed family. She is one of the leading world experts in genetics, particularly mutant genetics. An very old friend and one-time love interest of Professor Xavier, she has always been closely allied with Xavier's School and the Xavier Institute.
However, choosing to stay in Scotland, she has built upon Muir Island a state-of-the-art Mutant Research Centre. She has since extended Muir Island to act as the base of operations for Excalibur of which she is an associate member.
