So it's a little early but not at the crack of dawn early. The park has it's joggers and people wanting to explore before it gets to late but Lucille is here for a whole different reason. After receiving a call from her newfound friend Laura, she decided to meet with her and Central Park seemed like the best place to do it.
Leaning against a tree in a nearby secluded area, Lucille is dressed in a pair of jeans, a long sleeved shirt along with a heavy leather jacket with a hood. Her boots clunk on the floor as she taps her heel. Fingerless gloved hands reach out towards the sky as she stretches and waits. She doesn't really know what this meeting is about, but it couldn't be anything too weird right? She thinks Laura's cool and all.
She doesn't have a huge wait. Shortly after she arrives and starts tapping her heel, Laura emerges from a cluster of trees, off the beaten path, so to speak. Most people stick to the pathways; Laura doesn't seem to care. Eyes move briefly as she flickers her gaze about until she spots Lucille. Then, there's a beeline path made toward the other girl, though it's at a relatively leisurely pace. In case anyone watches her approach, she doesn't want to make it seem too determined.
But there's still a purpose about her, in the way she moves, in the way she holds herself. Finally approaching Lucille, she offers a very slight nod, "Hey. How're you doing? No hangover from the other night, I hope?" It seems like an innocuous enough start to a conversation. She's not frowning, not pointing fingers or anything of the sort.
"Nah, ah didn't get one the other night, lucky me." She says with a chuckle and grins at Laura. "How about you? You drank a lot if I remember right." She waggles her eyebrows and uncrosses her arms, she isn't in any need to feel like she has to defend herself. Laura has done what few people are able to do, she's broken through Lucille's hard wall of not trusting. Though you wouldn't know it, something about the girl puts Lucille at ease.
"Had a great time getting home." She ruffles her hair a bit in the back, smiling sheepishly.
There's a small snort from the girl dressed all in black. "No… I don't get hangovers." In fact, she doesn't even manage 'drunk' more often than not. "I just get grumpy, I suppose. Oh… and I thought you should know that I think I've convinced Pigboy that I'm absolutely and violently crazy. So I think he might leave me alone for a while," Laura adds, though she doesn't sound particularly proud of herself. It's just a fact she states.
She takes note of the other girl's stance and reaches back with one hand to scratch at the back of her head almost idly. Laura is not an actress. She's not terribly socially gifted. She can be awkward at best. So it's probably painfully obvious that in the next moment, Something (with a capital S) is coming next. "Yeah, about that… I saw you… kind of disappear…" Looking away, then back again, as though just making sure no one is around, she adds, "And before you freak out, I wanted to say not to worry. That's -okay-!"
"Took a little bit of my advice, eh? Good for you." Lucille is all for women standing up for themselves and not letting men treat them as pieces of meat. Unless they want to be treated that way. Lucille pushes herself off the tree and then stops dead in her tracks as Laura mentions her teleportation. "You saw..?" A million possibilities run through her head, could she be an government agent? A secret spy? A new brand of Sentinel like the Terminator?
"What ya mean, it's okay?" she tilts her head with a raise of her eyebrow, she's ready to teleport away at the first sign of trouble. "I was hoping you were too drunk to notice." Stupid Lucille, getting drunk stupid, stupid, stupid.
Talk of 'Pigboy' will have to come later. There are more important topics at hand. She notices the way Lucille reacts to the news, but she remains quiet and patient while the news is processed. It's why she tacked on the statement about it being 'okay' on the end really fast, so that Lucille wouldn't just run off on her.
Once the mention of Laura being too drunk comes up, she offers a bit of a sheepish smirk. "Uhm, see, that's the thing, right? I… don't get drunk. Rather… I can't. Usually not even a buzz." She lets that slowly sink in. -Who- can't get drunk? "What I'm trying to say is… you're not alone, Lucille. You're not the only one with… 'gifts'." It sounds like something Professor Xavier would say, right? Sure it does. It's what he once said to her, many years ago when she was first introduced to him.
"You're a mutant too, then." She states softly and then stands up straighter. "So, your gift.. drink all the men under the table." She laughs softly, she's trying to take this with a open mind. So Laura wants to talk about the fact that they both aren't exactly human. That's cool she guesses.
"Ah met a few of our kind round here, dere was dis one man who can crawl up walls. Real freaky." Lucille walks away from the tree a bit and looks over to Laura, "Are you alone out here too? No group of friends that are mutants?" It's what Lucille's been longing for, a group of people like her that she could talk too, people that would understand. With everyone so jumpy and paranoid in the city..
A slightly chagrinned smirk slips onto Laura's lips before she ducks her head slightly and then shakes it. "Well, no. I mean, I guess that's a part of it. An after-thought of my gift, I guess. I heal fast. Really, really fast. I don't get sick. And, well, there are these…" She takes a brief look around again, making sure that they are blocked from view before she draws in a deep breath to steady herself for what she's about to do. Her right arm is outstretched before her, then bent at the elbow so that her hand isn't pointing right at Lucille but to the side. For a moment, nothing happens.
-SNIKT!- A sharp, metallic sound cuts clearly through the relative quiet in their little secluded area of the park. From her knuckles, two long blades snap out, extending by about three quarters of a foot. They look rather sharp. A quick eyeflicker up to Lucille's face focuses Laura's attention there. "So yeah, I guess you can say I'm a mutant." She shakes her head once, "No, I'm not alone…there are others like us. And that's why I called to get you out here to talk…"
"Well I'll be.." Lucille says and the next thing Laura would know, she's dissolved into nothing and reappeared at her side, to further examine the claws. The way she teleports back in, her legs appear first and then the rest of her body. "They look pretty sharp, if you ask me." She says with a light grin then Laura speaks of others, "Others? You with a gang or something?" because Lucille isn't up for all these gangs around and joining one, even if it's all mutants.
"I don't do gangs, if that's what ya into. Those are just trouble."
As Lucille suddenly disappears and reappears, Laura jumps a little and casts a worried glance around. "Be careful!" she hisses. At least Laura's blocking the sight of her claws from others with her back turned to the path, but she worries about becoming exposed out here. As she realizes Lucille's pretty close to her claws, she flexes a muscle and the knife-like things snap back into her body, storing away somewhere in her arm, perhaps. There are wounds in her knuckles which are visible for a fraction of a moment before the skin knits together and heals over — so quickly that if Lucille blinks, she'll miss it.
"They are," Laura finally replies. "Sharp, I mean." She doesn't go into details about how she got metal in her body. Instead, she shakes her head and reassures, "No, no. Nothing like that. Remember I said I was studying? College-level? Well, there's a school of us. High school kids. College-level. There are teachers there. Training facilities. And the headmaster is the most amazing of them." She pauses as she realizes she might be sounding a little too awestruck or at risk of doing so. Instead, she clears her throat and says, "He's a telepath. Probably one of the strongest in the world. And… well… he sent me to extend his invitation to his school to you after he found out I already knew you."
"Got a little excited, excusi." She says and dips her head as Laura explains, could it be too good to be true? Is it a lie. "You go to school and learn about yourself and your powers and other mutants and they are our age and.." Lucille can't believe it. Though she ponders the pros and cons of this, if this really is a trick, she can always just teleport away and be on the run, but this.. it's too much of a great opportunity to pass up. "When.." she looks around and then up to the sky, she grabs onto the silver locket necklace that hangs from her neck and zips left and right on the chain it hangs on.
"When can ah come? Do ah get to meet this telepath? Is it safe?" All these questions and concerns she has. That doesn't even really matter to her, a real mutant haven. She's in awe.
"It's okay. And be careful when my claws are out. They can slice through most stuff like freaking ginsu knives," Laura explains. It's not so much that the girl got close, though that is a bit of an issue of its own, but that she got too close to the claws. But, just the same, Laura takes a step back as Lucille starts to process all she's said.
"Yes. A school. It's more than a school, really, and it has regular classes. You know: math, literature, sciences. That sort of thing. But yes, they help us with our abilities too." She pauses long enough to hear the 'when can I come' and the questions right after that and offers a small smile. "Now, if you want. Professor Xavier, uh, has this way of finding others like us with his abilities and inviting them in. He figured out that you knew me and thought by sending me instead of himself, the invite might go over better. So, he'll want to meet you soon, I'd think. But anyway, you want to go now then? And yes… it's -very- safe."
All of this runs through her head and the name Charles Xavier is thought about briefly before Lucille nods her head with excitement, she can barely control herself and she says, "Yes, I want to come now." It's not like she has anything here for her, no family. No friends at all.. no job.. what is it that she really has to lose? Nothing, nothing at all.
"I don't have anything here waiting for me, so let's do it." Smiling lightly, she places her hands in her pockets and studies Laura.
After Lucille agreed, Laura wasted no time getting them out of the park and on the first train back out to Westchester. Before long, they arrived at the gates of the school and the girl with the hidden claws lead them through the gate after passing the security checks and up the drive to the steps and finally into the large double doors.
Once paused in the foyer, she turns to Lucille and says, "Well, here you have it. Welcome to what some of us call 'Mutant High'. Dorms are upstairs. West for girls, east for boys. Some classrooms are up there too. Kitchen's over there…" She motions with her hand as she gives the very brief run-down of the place. "The Professor's office there… library and computer room over there… laundry, gym, music and training rooms are in the basement. Common room has tv, video games, pool and so on. The rest, I'm sure you'll find on your own or someone will show you." She pauses and says, "See? Told you. It's pretty wild. Oh… and for the record, watch out for Brian. He schmoozes with everyone and tries to 'hook people up' with 'whatever they need'. I don't trust him farther than I can throw him." Nevermind how far -she- could throw him but that's not the point. "And Julian who seems to think women are walking pieces of meat and that his shit doesn't stink. He's the one who's convinced I'm crazy." Pigboy. "But really, most are mostly harmless around here. Just… you'll figure it out."
"Wow." Lucille says as she enters the mansion and is given a brief but still awesome tour. Nodding as she takes in all the information that Laura is giving her, she grins at the other woman. "Ok.. Brian is one to watch and Julian is Pigboy. Ah gonna have to watch that ah don call him that on accident, or ah could just call him that all da time." She chuckles as she walks around the foyer and looks around. She can feel it, this is where she is meant to be, this is where she belongs.
She wonders about the kitchen and if they can feed her appetite, she hopes they can. If not, she'll figure it out later. Right now she wants to explore her new home, meet her fellow classmates, mutants.. er friends? And most importantly, "So, where's my room?" she asks with a wink.
